Doors open at 8:00 AM. Please arrive as early as possible to check in. The keynote address will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.

Rates of suicide in St. Joseph County have risen steadily over the last decade. Suicide is an epidemic in our community. It's time for change.

Change starts with education. The Community Suicide Prevention Network and St. Joseph County United Way have partnered to host a conference to educate residents about suicide prevention in St. Joseph County.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Nathan Harmon, founder of Your Life Speaks. Harmon is an advocate for suicide prevention and his work has inspired change in many communities just like our own.

The keynote address will be followed by breakout sessions. These sessions are led by knowledgeable professionals, and all are welcome to participate. Here are just a few of the many sessions we'll be hosting:

    - Resilience for Youth and Resilience for Parents - a discussion about how to be resilient and take care of our mental health in the face of challenges
    - Social Media and IT - a discussion for parents about the intersections of social media use and children's mental health
    - Gryphon Place and #benice - information about the programs being implemented in our schools
    - Mental health strategies - an information session in Spanish about strategies that are useful in taking care of our mental health and treating mental illness
